This week, President Obama announced the new “TechHire” Initiative, described as a public-private partnership aimed at training and preparing people for technology jobs. Watch video announcement at the National League of Cities Conference here.
The Department of Labor will offer $100 million in competitively awarded grants for innovative approaches to helping people with childcare responsibilities, disabilities and limited English proficiency get training in tech skills. This grant program also will target disconnected youth.
