The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon will honor a Massachusetts STEM teacher next spring as the inaugural STEM Teacher of the Year.

Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft made the announcement at the October 18 Massachusetts STEM Summit before around 1,000 people at Gillette Stadium.

The goal of the program is to recognize and a honor a Massachusetts STEM teacher making significant contributions to STEM education and to promote the impact the educator is making in the field.

The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon 2012-2013 STEM Teacher of the Year Program

GOAL:
To recognize and honor a Massachusetts STEM (Science, Technology, Engineer-ing, Math) teacher making significant contributions to STEM education and to promote the impact that educator is making in the field.

ELIGIBILITY:
Be a full-time, active, certified, K-12 classroom STEM teacher in a state-accredited Massachusetts public or private school.

SELECTION PROCESS
A selection committee comprised of Hall and Patriots administrative staff, a Ray-theon representative and a STEM professional will review and score all nomina-tion applications and select five finalists who will then be contacted to be inter-viewed. Following the interview process, a winner will be chosen as The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon Massachusetts STEM Teacher of the Year.

CRITERIA
Spend the majority of the school day involved in direct instruction to students
Be skilled in implementing effective teaching strategies
Be able to explain personal teaching philosophy
Be able to inspire students in STEM-related topics
Show involvement and leadership in student-related extra-curricular activities
Be respected by students, parents and co-workers
Be nominated by someone, other than oneself, with direct knowledge of the candidate’s educational impact

HONORING
Winner will be honored during a Patriots pregame ceremony and be invited with a guest to a Patriots home game and receive tailgate passes
Winner will be recognized in The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Ray-theon
Winner’s school will be given a $5,000 grant to be used for STEM education
Winner will be asked to record a Hall education-related PSA for web use

Email entries will be accepted at TheHall@patriotplace.com but those sending the nominations should call 508-698-4801 to confirm receipt. Please include STEM Teacher of the Year as your subject line.

DEADLINE and TIMELINE
All nominations should be received at The Hall by February 15, 2013.
5 finalists will be selected by April 20, 2013.
Interviews will be conducted the first two weeks of May 2013 and a winner will be announced May 20, 2013.
